One of the best parts of this journey is catching up with friends and family on their home turf – original and adopted – and seeing a new place through their eyes. For their sake we’ve made a point not to trumpet our hosts in the general posts, but they’ve played a huge role in our trip. So here’s a very sincere thank you to all of you who have taken us into your homes, fed us, and offered your laundry rooms. We would have been lost on more than one occasion without your inside knowledge and advice. Most importantly, you are all responsible for saving a life, because without your company and distraction, one of us would surely be dead at the roadside, victim of a tragic quarrel over whether or not we should stop and ask for directions.
